Ricardo Sá

Ricardo Figueirêdo de Sá is the Technical Director at 4LifeLAB, where he defines and delivers technical strategy, builds and leads multidisciplinary teams, and oversees project execution against timelines, budgets, and KPIs, while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality processes for medical devices.

He previously served as Systems Engineer / Build Manager at APTIV, coordinating hardware, software, and mechanical teams and managing pre-series builds, acting as the interface between the international development organization and the manufacturing plant. Prior to that, he was Senior Product Manager at UN1QNX, leading product development through industrialization, defining requirements and test methodologies, and coordinating suppliers and external partners. Earlier, as Project Manager and Product Owner at SIOSLIFE, he led a multidisciplinary product development program (~30 people, 8 institutions) spanning hardware, software, and enclosure development.

Ricardo also gained hands-on R&D and engineering coordination experience at PIEP, focusing on polymeric component development, CAD/FEA, prototyping, and testing. He holds an MSc in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in Engineering Leadership completed through the MIT Portugal Program; he was also a visiting student at MIT and completed an Erasmus period in Tissue Engineering at the University of Galway.
